Summer makeup tips for acne-prone and every skin

Summer is beach and barbecues, traveling and lazy evenings by the pool. It is also heat, humidity or dryness, sweating and extra acne breakouts. In addition- the choice between melting foundation and smeared eyeliner and showing the world your teenage acne scars may not always be the easiest task to tackle. So here are a few summer makeup tips that will help you to avoid extra acne breakouts and leaving you fresh and confident on those sweaty and hot days.

1. Start with the cleansing and right moisturizer

The way you care for your skin is just as important as the makeup you apply on it. "Use a mild cleanser and an oil-free moisturizer in the morning. If you go out in the evening- take off your entire day’s makeup and start afresh. Clean and moisturize first. This step helps you to clean your pores, remove excess sweat and sebum and get rid of any “caked on” or otherwise already imperfect makeup foundation

2. Use sun protection daily

Besides hydrating your skin, you also want to make sure it's properly protected from the sun — and that means wearing broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen every single day, even under your makeup until you go out at night. Remember -if you have acne- against some popular myth, sun exposure dose not help. You just need to choose non comedogenic sunscreen.

Experiment. Try using a sunscreen powder . It is also easier to re-apply during the day. It will mattify your complexion and it can be applied on top of your makeup as well.

3. Use the good makeup primer

Use makeup primer which goes on after moisturizer but before face makeup. Primer will help hold makeup in place and also blur imperfections — all while keeping your makeup on your face! Remember to use eyeshadow primer as well. This small investment will pay in eye shadow staying on instead of melting. You can also use the eyeliner color eye shadow to settle the eyeliner.

4.Less is more

If you want to prevent your makeup from creasing, caking and running, just use less. Using a tinted moisturizer is also a good alternative. Avoid heavier creamy foundations, avoid sparkles ( you are already shining with sweat).If you want healthy glow use bronzer. Sparingly. Apply it just to the high points of your face, where the sun naturally touches you, that is forehead, cheekbones, chin and nose

5. Go lighter.

Switch to lighter and sheer lipsticks, use lighter palette in your chosen hues, opt for translucent colors ; choose less intense contour and cheek colors as well. If make up runs, intense colors will certainly bleed The lighter the colors, the more natural look, the more fresh your skin appears. During the summer using liquid or gel stains may be a good alternative to powdery blush that may cake or run in the heat. To finish your look and increase the life of your makeup- dust a transparent setting powder on top.

6. Blot until you drop

To calm down the “hot” sweaty” look use blotting papers. If you need to perk up your makeup, blot first, then follow up with a pressed but luminous not flat powder. This will also help with keeping your sebum under control and decease the possibility of an acne breakout.

7. About waterproof makeup

Some makeup artists recommend waterproof makeup products for summer. However if your skin is prone to breakouts waterproof products may prove too much for your skin. They also require different types of cleansers. It is safer to stay away from them.

    • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
    • 1 wedge of fresh lemon
  • Warm the honey in the microwave for a few seconds, then combine it with cinnamon and the juice of a lemon wedge into a small bowl. Cinnamon is known to reduce inflammation and redness. It also absorbs excess oil when applied on the skin. Lemon juice will exfoliate your skin and minimizes discolorations. Gently massage the mixture onto your face and leave on for about 15-20 minutes, then rinse off.
